Journalist Workshops

journalist 06The Sustainability Initiative is also connecting with journalists to better inform the public of the sustainability challenges that lay before us. We are developing a two-day workshop for professional journalists in cooperation with the Minnesota Journalism Center at the University's School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The program will feature panels and discussions led by faculty expert in their fields, and will present to journalists insights about the most pressing and relevant science and sustainability issues of the day. The events will also provide a forum in which participants can discuss approaches, techniques, angles and story hooks relevant to writing and communicating about sustainability issues. Few such opportunities exist for journalists to interact with scientists, and this new program will provide a rare and much-needed opportunity for connection between these two groups.
